PV Enlargement

Technology Transfer, Demonstration and Scientific Exchange Action
for the Establishment of a strong European PV Sector

By 2003 Europes' largest scientific PV installation network was created in the framework of the project PV Enlargement which was initiated and coordinated by WIP.

The project aim was a standardised comparison of innovative grid-connected PV technology in 11 countries of Europe. 29 different technology and innovative PV systems with a total capacity of > 1,2 MWp were installed and technically monitored.

This installation on the parking garage of the trade fair in Riem/ Munich (Germany) was initiated by WIP. It was realised by Gehrlicher in the framework of PV Enlargement. By the time of installation in 2003 this test field in Riem was the worlds largest test field for large-scale thin film PV technology (2xCIS; 1xaSi; 1xCdT; HIT) and crystalline technology (MC-SI; PC-SI) comparison. Over five different inverter technologies were operated at this site in parallel and in large numbers.
