ETIP PVETIP PV will present its European Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for Photovoltaics at the EU PVSEC in September
ETIP PV has developed a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA)
which focuses on solar PV technology as a prominent aspect of the EU’s
commitments to its clean energy targets and global sustainability goals.
The SRIA analyses five interlocking challenges of PV research and
innovation, topics broadly encompassed under themes of performance
enhancement and cost reduction, manufacturing processes, quality and
circularity, integration and double use along with public support and
the socio-economic transition.
The SRIA summary is available to download on the ETIP PV website.
Comments and suggestions were accepted until 18 June 2021. The extended
version of the SRIA will be presented to the PV Community during the EU
PVSEC week on 6-10 September 2021.

PV IMPACTAlmost 200 experts representing Italian PV research centers, industry and national institutions met on 4 June at the Workshop "PV is the Engine of the Ecological Transition” organized in the framework of the PV IMPACT project. The aim of the workshop was to establish a direct connection between the Implementation Plan of the SET Plan (namely its execution strategy described in the White Paper 'A Strategic Plan for Research and Innovation to Relaunch the Italian Photovoltaic Sector') and the Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan.
After holding two successful matchmaking events in May and June, PV IMPACT is already working on the next virtual matchmaking events with a focus on Agrivoltaics, Floating PV and on Perovskite-silicon tandems in October 2021. Keep an eye on the pvimpact.eu website for more information.
Other news from PV IMPACT: French manufacturer Photowatt keeps working
together with the PV IMPACT project for the development and innovation
of solar manufacturing in Europe. Take a tour to their Lab Fab
facilities and discover how to test and improve your process here. They are accepting applications until October 2021.

Upgrade DHThe Upgrade DH project partners invite you to the final
dissemination workshop "Towards efficient district heating and cooling
in Europe" taking place on Wednesday, 15 September 2021, online.
This event will be a perfect opportunity to present and discuss project
results and achievements: the collection of the best upgrading measures
and tools, upgrading processes of concrete DH systems initiated in each
of the target countries, replication activities in other European
countries and DH systems. In addition, our experience and
recommendations for the development or retrofitting of DHC networks will
be presented at the event. Finally, in the afternoon, participants will
have a chance to (virtually) visit two CHP plants that recently
undertook upgrading measures and can serve as inspiration for other DH
systems striving to become more efficient.
Take a look at the programme and join the event.

SOCIALRES - EESIPEnhancing the societal impact of European research activities
We are delighted to introduce the first European Energy Social Innovation Platform.
The platform provides an innovative meeting point for experts at
national and European level, as well as for key stakeholders such as
energy intermediaries and citizens at local level. With well-chosen
activities and tools, we are able to build a bridge between experts and
citizens. Use the platform to get in direct contact with actors outside
your technical network. We make social sciences and humanities a core
element of the renewable energy transition.
Are you interested in integrating the EESIP Platform into your project?

 Collaboration UNIDO, WIP & BESTUpon
request of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization),
WIP Renewable Energies and BEST – Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies
have recently authored the Discussion Paper “Establishing Ethanol
Industries in Developing Countries – Opportunities and Challenges to
achieve inclusive and sustainable industrial development”. The Paper
presents the benefits of establishing national ethanol industries in
developing countries and covers important aspects of ethanol production
and use, deployment strategies, risks and barriers, and recommendations
to policy makers.
The Paper served as the basis for an informed discussions during UNIDO’s Expert Group Meeting on Clean Cooking: Potential for bioethanol Industries in High impact Countries
(23 - 25 June 2021), which brought together key policy and decision
makers from developing countries and relevant stakeholders in the clean
cooking sector to identify strategies to achieve universal access to
clean energy for cooking and transport via the development of domestic
bioethanol industries.
