New publication on optimal pathways for biomethane and bioethanol in Europe
WIP contributed to a new briefing for the Committee on Industry,
Research and Energy (ITRE) of the European Parliament exploring how
biomethane and bioethanol can reinforce Europe’s energy security and
accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels.
The study maps where these fuels are produced, how they are used, and
which policy frameworks best support their uptake. By comparing
established and emerging production pathways, it highlights
opportunities to scale up sustainable, domestically sourced renewable
gases and liquid biofuels.
The publication identifies conditions needed for stable, long-term deployment across the EU, its Member States and the UK.
