WIP co-authors European Commission’s study on digitalisation and AI in Energy
WIP features among the authors of the recently European Commission’s
study “Support for the preparations of a strategic roadmap for
digitalisation and AI in the energy sector”, published in the framework
of the activities of the Energy Transition Expertise Centre 2 (ENTEC 2).
The study examines how the energy sector, and more specifically the
electricity sector, is transforming through decarbonisation,
decentralisation and digitalisation. It highlights the role of AI in
managing complex, data-driven power systems, enabling better
forecasting, efficiency, and flexibility while supporting renewable
integration, lowering costs and emissions, and improving grid
reliability.

 | | Webinar Explores Solutions to Grid Congestion and Flexibility
Together with Energy Storage Europe, WIP Renewable Energies organised the webinar “From Grid Congestion to Grid Resilience: The Role of Flexibility Enablers”,
bringing together experts from research, industry and policy to discuss
how energy storage and other flexibility solutions can help address
growing grid congestion challenges.
The webinar highlighted the role of batteries, smart energy management
and demand-side flexibility in integrating higher shares of renewable
energy and strengthening grid resilience.
A recording of the webinar is available online for those who missed the live session.
The discussion will continue at EU PVSEC 2026, where grid congestion
management and the Dutch perspective on flexibility solutions will be
addressed during the Opening Session panel discussion.

GENDER4POWER
contributes to new EPAH guidelines on energy poverty "Addressing
Vulnerability & Equity in Energy Poverty Action"
The publication highlights the importance of a human-centred approach to
tackling energy poverty. Rather than focusing solely on technical
solutions, the guidelines emphasise the diverse social, economic and
demographic factors that shape people’s access to affordable and
reliable energy services.
The guidelines support local authorities in identifying and addressing
different forms of vulnerability, helping ensure that energy poverty
measures reach those most at risk of exclusion.
Through GENDER4POWER, WIP and its partners contribute to advancing more
inclusive and equitable energy transition policies across Europe.

COALition publishes Macro-Economy Scenario Report
The COALition project has published its new Macro-Economy Scenario
Report, exploring how the coal-dependent regions of Western Macedonia
(Greece), Centru (Romania) and Stara Zagora (Bulgaria) can transition
towards innovation-driven, climate-neutral economies by 2035.
The report assesses different development pathways and their potential
impacts on GDP, employment, investment and regional competitiveness. It
highlights the important role of research and innovation, regional
excellence hubs and cross-regional cooperation in supporting a just and
sustainable transition.
Through a place-based and participatory approach, COALition brings
together stakeholders from government, industry, academia and civil
society to help shape resilient regional economies for the future.
