Empowering Women Through Energy Literacy: A Workshop in Austria
Within GENDER4POWER, partners are developing participatory approaches
that place vulnerable households at the centre of the energy transition.
A recent example is a dedicated workshop for women, organised by the
Austrian Energy Agency together with the Austrian Red Cross and Eva
Lems, Austrian GENDER4POWER Ambas-sador, as part of "Understanding
Electricity Bills – Created Together, Explained Simply," funded by the
Austrian Coordination Office for Combating Energy Poverty (kea). In a
safe, supportive setting, participants discussed everyday energy
challenges and co-designed communication materials covering practical
essentials such as reading electricity bills, what a kilowatt-hour
means, how to switch suppliers, and available support measures like
social tariffs, including feedback on two newly developed educational
videos.

GENDER4POWER Publishes Two Key Outputs on Gender-Responsive Action Against Energy Poverty
The LIFE project GENDER4POWER is proud to announce the publication of
two significant project outputs: Report on Gender-Responsive Methods
Against Energy Poverty and Gender-Responsive Action Manual including a
Gender Action Plan. Together, these outputs provide both the analytical
foundation and the practical tools needed to embed gender equality at
the heart of energy poverty action in Europe.

GIFFT Marks Breakthrough in Plasma-Assisted Entrained Flow Gasification
Thanks to the GIFFT project, partners at TU Munich's Chair of Energy
Systems are excited to announce the successful completion of the world's
first experimental pilot-scale campaign on water steam plasma-assisted
entrained flow gasification. Using the pilot gasifier facility
"BOOSTER", the team integrated up to 35 kW of thermal plasma power,
reaching operating points with high steam and hydrogen concentrations
previously inaccessible with conventional setups, opening new
perspectives for hydrogen-rich product gases and improved conversion
rates in future gasification processes.

Welcoming JPI Polymers to the ESCIB Consortium
Since May 2026, JPI Polymers has officially joined the ESCIB project as a
new consortium member. Based in the Netherlands, JPI specialises in
manufacturing plastic products with a strong focus on recycled, biobased
and circular solutions. Offering design, tooling and production under
one roof, including injection moulding and three types of extrusion, JPI
turns plastic waste and bio-waste streams such as grass fibres,
cellulose, coffee waste and agricultural fibres (oat hulls, miscanthus,
hemp) into valuable materials, from industrial and construction
components to sheet materials. JPI's expertise in recycled and biobased
manufacturing brings valuable industrial insight to ESCIB's work on
sustainability assessment metho-dologies. Welcome aboard!

project, the so-called iAMP-Hydro Community of Practice. iAMP-Hydro is
developing a novel intelligent Asset Management Platform to improve the
digital operation of existing hydropower plants, combining condition
monitoring, ecological status monitoring, and improved weather and flow
forecasting. Registration and participation in the Community of Practice
is free of charge, thanks to funding from the European Union.

POWER-E-COM handbook is available
The POWER-E-COM project proudly presents its handbook on how to start an
energy community, considering that national regulation differs and
plays an important role. For Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Ireland,
Slovenia and Spain, project partners brought in their practical
experience, giving examples of real functioning models and sharing
lessons learnt. The handbook features country profiles with national
framework conditions and best practice examples, key lessons learnt for
new Energy Communities, and a practical Do's & Don'ts guide for
practitioners, municipalities and citizens. Whether you are planning a
community solar project, a village heating network, or looking for
inspiration from across Europe, this handbook offers concrete insights
and tested approaches.
