CoSt redUction and enhanced PERformance of PV systems Duration: 2018 - 2022 ● Programme: Horizon 2020 ● SUPER PV is pursuing an ambitious bus realistic goal for innovative PV system cost reduction and consequently significant LCOE reduction (26%-37%) by adopting hybrid approach combining technological innovations and Data Management methods along the PV value chain. To achieve that, key actions are implemented at three main levels within the PV value chain: PV module innovation level, power electronics innovation level and system integration level. Prototype SUPER PV systems will be produced in industrial environments and tested in different (including harsh) climate conditions to evaluate cost efficiency and demonstrate competitiveness of the proposed solutions. Promoting sustainable use of underutilized lands for bioenergy production through a web-based Platform for Europe Duration: 2018 – 2021 ● Client: European Commission (H2020) ● WIP Expertise: Coordination, Stakeholder mobilisation and Involvement ● The overall objective of the project is to promote the market uptake of sustainable bioenergy in Europe using marginal, underutilized, and contaminated lands for non-food biomass production through the provision of a web-based platform that serves as decision support tool. In order to achieve the overall goal, the work has been structured for achieving the following specific objectives: Creation of a database of maps on MUC lands in Europe generated based on high resolution data (Copernicus high resolution layers (HRLs), time series data from Sentinels and other satellites) and their attributes. New Technology and Strategy for a Large and Sustainable Deployment of
Second Generation Biofuel in Rural Areas Duration: 2016 – 2020 ● Client: European Commission (H2020) ● WIP Expertise: Research and Innovation, Communication and Dissemination, Exploitation ● The main aim of BABET-REAL5 is to develop an alternative solution for the production of second generation ethanol based on smaller industrial scale than the already realised plants of first generation ethanol. Such plants of small industrial scale shall be applicable to a large number of countries, rural areas and feedstock. The target is to reach technical, environmental and economical viabilities in production units processing at least 30 000 tons equivalent dry biomass per year. This approach will definitely enlarge the scope of biomass feedstock exploitable for the production of biofuel and create better conditions for the deployment of production sites, to the benefit of rural areas in Europe and worldwide.
