Regional Networks for the development of a Sustainable Market for Bioenergy in Europe

BioRegions will bring the development of bioenergy regions on a European level building on the work of the most advanced areas. A "bioenergy region" gets at least 1/3 of its heating and electricity needs from regional and sustainable bioenergy sources, with main focus on solid biomass.

BioRegions will:

• Support the development of efficient and reliable markets for solid biomass in the five target regions.
• Stimulate investment into bioenergy projects and trading businesses of local Stakeholders.
• Inspire further rural areas to follow the example of the target regions.
